Monroe Man Charged In Double-Fatal Crash That Left Another Critical

A 30-year-old man has been arrested for two counts of manslaughter in connection with a fatal crash that two people dead and another in critical condition.

The horrific two-vehicle crash took place in Fairfield County around 11:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, on River Road in Shelton.

During the crash, two people, including, Lily Pirulli, 20, of Monroe, and Adrian Miles, 31, of Ansonia, were killed, said Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango.

Pirulli, a graduate of Masuk High School, was the daughter of longtime Bridgeport Police Officer Mario Pirulli.

Meghan Nealy, 26, of Ansonia, was critically injured.

After a lengthy investigation, Shelton Police arrested Rakiem Reid, 30, of Derby, on Friday, May 15, for two counts of manslaughter, as well as other charges, Bango said.

During the investigation, Reid claimed that Meghan Nealy was driving the vehicle when the crash occurred. 

But following the intensive investigation, detectives found that Reid was allegedly driving the vehicle when the crash occurred, Bango said.

Police received an arrest warrant for Reid, but were unable to locate for more than a month, Bango said.

In April, Shelton Police were notified by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina that they had Reid in custody. 

On Thursday, May 14, Shelton detectives took custody of Reid and transported him back to Connecticut.

He was charged with:

  • Two counts of manslaughter with a motor vehicle
  • Assault with a motor vehicle 
  • Driving under the influence
  • Reckless driving
  • Interfering with an officer

Reid was held on a $500,000 bond.
